Just weeks after one of the most exciting Boston Marathon finishes in history, runners across the Atlantic were preparing to run the London Marathon.
The race has been scheduled for the morning of Sunday April 28. The 26.2-mile course will see runners travel through London, passing some of the city’s most historic locations, like London Bridge, the Tower of London, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.
Spectators and participants alike were sure to see some spectacular sportsmanship in a beautiful city. Weather for the day was calling for high temperatures near 60 degrees Fahrenheit and clouds — near-perfect running conditions.
Before the men’s elite race, the professional women’s event will get underway with the Kenyan pair of Vivian Cheruiyot and Mary Keitany expected to feature at the front along with Ethiopian Birhane Dibaba, as well as the race for elite wheelchair users and para athletes. Finally, once all the elite races are underway, thousands and thousands will get underway in the amateur race. Follow the live updates below.

How can I watch it on TV?
The London Marathon will be shown on BBC Two from 8:30am until 10am, when coverage will then switch to BBC One until 2:30pm. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the radio on BBC Five Live.
